In 21st century, the world has been moving around Asia. In among, Japan plays a role as a world leader. Wasoukan too, as a member of Japan, strives to contribute selflessly to the evolving world.
Through kimono, a representation of Japanese culture, we aim to deliver the true meaning of Spirit of Harmony and spread it to the world.
Our social significance and mission
“Connecting the Spirit of Harmony to the world and to the future”
Our mission is to connect the spirit of harmony to the world and to the future through the kimono, a representation of Japanese culture.
At Wasoukan, we believe that the “Spirit of Harmony” is a spirit of compassion for nature, consideration for others, and appreciation for all things. We believe that wearing authentic kimono made with the spirit and skills of craftsmen passed down from generation to generation can deliver the Spirit of Harmony beyond national borders and generations.
In this evolving world, we hope to create a better future with Spirit of Harmony by spreading the spirit and skills of craftsmen who continue to make authentic products.
Message from Wasoukan Ltd. CEO
CEO – Noriyuki Ikeda
My inspiration for this venture came during a period of my study in the UK in autumn of 2013, when I had the opportunity to mingle with a diverse variety of people of all ages from around the world.
At this time it occurred to me that wa no kokoro, the spirit of harmony cultivated in Japan since time immemorial-encompassing the beliefs that spirits of nature reside in everything from mountains and rivers to the smallest pebble and that we should be grateful to these, and that harmony is of greater importance than self-assertion-represented something truly unique in the world.
It also made me think that as we are surrounded by war, corruption, environmental problems, and other pressing issues, psychology of gratitude toward others and toward nature takes on an ever greater meaning today.
So, I decided to expand the business not only in Japan but also all over the world.
Not to sell kimono, but to sell dreams
Wasoukan is a corporate aiming to spread the Spirit of Harmony through kimono.
In modern days, kimono may not be used as daily wear.
However, the latent demand for kimono is growing due to admiration for kimono and to people dress in kimono.
While proposing kimono as fashion item, we believe that we are not selling the kimono, but the “dream” that spreads through the kimono.
